The origins of the Affenpinscher may be traced back to the 17th century. This breed is also known as a monkey terrier owing to its unique look.

Affenpinschers can weigh anything from three to six kilograms (7 to 13 lb), and their height at the withers can range from 23 to 30 centimeters (9 to 12 in). They have a coarse and rough coat that is often docked. However, in some regions, like Europe, this practice is prohibited.
Affenpinschers are fun-loving and lively dogs and are energetic, adventurous, curious, and headstrong. They have a strong will. They require constant training as well as stern, and it is not advised that households with very young children have them.
Lifespan
They have an average lifespan of 12 to 14 years.
The Affenpinscher is prone to hip dysplasia, collapsed trachea, luxating patella, fractures, PDA, open fontanel, and respiratory problems in hot weather.
