LEGO is one of the most beloved and successful toys in the world. With an incredible history spanning 80 years, it has become a household name universally. Here are some fun facts you may not know about LEGO:

The word LEGO comes from the Danish phrase leg godt, which means ‘play well.’ In 2017, over 72 billion pieces were produced worldwide—so playing well seems to be taking off! Six themed amusement parks exist around the world in cities such as Berlin and Shanghai.

LEGO provides educational materials to teachers and parents that cover basic math topics such as numbers and shapes for children 3-7 years old. It also helps develop problem-solving abilities, creativity, imagination, and fine motor skills.

In 2020, a full-size house made entirely out of LEGO bricks was built by artist James Farley. It took him 102 days to construct with the help of his son and five other builders. The structure measures over 10 meters squared!

The most expensive set ever made was a 4,080-piece Star Wars Millennium Falcon set that cost $800.00 USD!

It is estimated that there are over 400 billion Lego bricks in existence – if you stacked them, it would circle the planet three times!

This would make it the largest structure ever made out of Lego pieces – built with 14 million bricks spanning 1 km in length and 13 meters (43 feet) wide!

In 2011, NASA sent an 8-pound spacecraft to International Space Station – it was made entirely out of Legos!

There is even a prestigious annual Lego building competition held every year known as “BrickCon,” where users come together to build incredible custom creations using only Lego pieces – some of which take over 900 hours to construct!

Legos are not just for kids either – adults from all backgrounds have embraced their inner child and created amazing sculptures and works of art from these famous little blocks!
